Assistant - hiring

Blessing Farm and Forest is looking for a warm, calm, and dependable assistant to join our little community. We are a Waldorf-inspired outdoor preschool where children spend their days caring for animals, exploring the woods, building, creating, gardening, cooking, and playing in all kinds of weather.

This is not a job where you'll be sitting in a classroom.

We spend most of our day outside hiking, climbing hills, carrying supplies, moving logs, digging in the garden, helping children, and being active for long stretches of time. You should genuinely enjoy being outdoors and be physically capable of hiking on uneven terrain and participating in engaged, peaceful work or supervision for 45 minutes or more at a time, rain or shine.

The most important quality we're looking for is someone who truly enjoys being with young children. You do not need classroom experience. We're much more interested in your comfort with children than your résumé. Whether your experience comes from nannying, babysitting, camps, volunteering, raising younger siblings, or simply spending lots of time with children, we're looking for someone who is patient, kind, dependable, and able to build warm, respectful relationships.

You do not need previous Waldorf experience, but you do need to be excited to learn. Curiosity, humility, and an openness to Waldorf education are essential. We are looking for someone who values imagination, meaningful work, time outdoors, and protecting the wonder of childhood.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Loves spending time with young children.

  • Is warm, dependable, and emotionally mature.

  • Is physically fit and able to hike, lift, bend, squat, carry supplies, and work outdoors in all seasons.

  • Enjoys gardening, animals, and being outside.

  • Is eager to learn about Waldorf education.

  • Works well as part of a team.

  • Can stay present, calm, and flexible when plans change.

If this sounds like the kind of work that fills you up, we'd love to hear from you.

Substitute teacher - hiring

Blessing Farm and Forest is looking for a warm, reliable substitute teacher who can step into our rhythm and become a calm, supportive presence for our children and team.

Our program is a small, outdoor, Waldorf-inspired preschool where children spend their days playing, exploring nature, caring for animals, creating, and participating in meaningful work. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being outdoors in all weather, enjoys being around young children, and is able to quietly observe, learn our rhythms, and naturally blend into our community.

The ideal person is someone who:

  • Has a calm, steady presence and enjoys supporting children without needing to be the center of attention

  • Learns through observation and can quickly pick up our daily rhythm, expectations, and ways of interacting with children

  • Is warm, patient, and genuinely enjoys being with young children

  • Is comfortable spending extended periods outdoors in changing weather conditions

  • Can support children through play, practical work, animal care, meals, and daily routines

  • Is open to learning about Waldorf early childhood education and our nature-based approach

Classroom experience is welcome, but it is not required. We value experience caring for and interacting with children, a willingness to learn, and the ability to connect with children in a respectful and thoughtful way.

This position is a wonderful fit for someone who appreciates a slower pace, the beauty of seasonal rhythms, and the importance of creating a peaceful, nurturing environment where children feel safe, capable, and valued.
